On January 9th this blog had a long post titled "Explaining This Winter's Warmth." It concluded, "So one cannot say definitely that AGW is the culprit — but no other explanation seems adequate." Commenters here warned that one could not draw conclusions about climate from a week or two of weather, but they were mostly ridiculed.

Now we have news reports of bitter cold in the northeast (http://wwwa.accuweather.com/news-top-headline.asp?partner=accuweather&traveler=0). Temperatures this morning were only 9 F in New York City.

Where are the blog posts now? If you persist in the belief that weather is climate, why aren't you all over these cold spells?

Or, perhaps, you have an agenda, and record cold does not sell it as well as does warmth. Hmm?

Kevin, it's SUPPOSED to be cold in winter. A 9F January morning in NYC isn't news. What's news is that it's taken most of the winter for it to get there. Forecast for NYC tomorrow: High, 38F, Low 32F, according to WeatherBug. So much for "record" cold. It's not even freezing.

Nobody here is "drawing conclusions about climate from a week or two of weather", except maybe you with your 9F January NYC morning. Anybody who actually reads what gets posted here knows that. I'm happy to let them judge which of us has an agenda.
