Who are these people? People who want to be 'masters of their domain'. People who want to feel self-important above all others.

People who don't worry about how blowback for their actions.

Now this speaks to ego. Forget the fact that we can't accurately forecast the weather 48 hours in advance on a consistent basis. You just go ahead and drive your Navigator in 3 feet of flash flood streaming down Main Street and let me know who wins.
