Atrios has a simple, but brilliant, idea.
In Denver, it wasn't a question of whether people who were in line when the polls closed could vote - they were honored. It was that people who came early couldn't wait to get through the long lines - they had to get to work. There weren't enough election judges to verify their right to vote, so they couldn't reach the voting machines, many of which were empty!
