Incredible. Our corporate run government is not a democracy. Don't know that it ever has been. The people with the most money have the most influence on policy. I remember in the 80's on the UT Austin campus, a table with the student republicans proclaiming that someone needs to look after the interests of business in this country.

Hate to mention this, but the US was never a democracy - it was set up as a constitutional republic. People who keep saying democracy just makes it sound like one.

"The United States is the longest-surviving extant constitutional republic, with the oldest wholly written constitution in the world. Its government operates as a representative democracy through a congressional system under a set of powers specified by its Constitution."
