The stereotype of an American Christian has gotten to be quite ugly these days.
But along with the majority of Christians that I know, I am quite disgusted with George Bush, who's actions go against everything I stand for as a Christian. He gives my country and my religion a bad name.
And I am quite disgusted with the religious right for supporting him.
I wish the MSM would pay more attention to other Christian leaders like Jim Wallis and the folks at Sojourners (see this link, for example:
http://www.sojo.net/index.cfm?action=about_us.redletterchristians).
But of course, the MSM give voice to the likes of Jerry Falwell, because his outrageous statements helps their ratings.

I heard an ad a few weeks ago during a local conservative talk radio show that left me absolutely flabbergasted. The ad was from a Christian organization (I forget who) that was promoting the idea that sometimes it's necessary to fight (go to war) to protect what we believe in. It's no wonder that there's such a negative stereotype of American Christianity when it's promoted this way.
I'll tune for the next few days (for as long as I can endure the show) to see if they're still running the ad. I'll try to get more details.
